Description

The project includes the construction of a new double railway line on the section from Athens (SKA) to Kiato, approximately 105 km in length, with electrification, remote control and telecommunications. Technical characteristics: Section length: 105 km Design speed: 200 km/h beyond Thriasio Tunnels: 5 tunnels with a total length of approximately 8,263.91 m Cut & Cover: 4 cut-and-cover structures with a total length of approximately 1,401.48 m Railway bridges: 21 Grade-separated crossings: 60 Stations/stops: 8 railway stations (Ano Liosia, Magoula, N. Peramos, Megara, Kineta, Agioi Theodoroi, Corinth, Kiato), 2 stops (Thriasio (Aspropyrgos), Zevgolatio) and the new Zefyri stop. The project forms part of the wider project for the construction of the new double railway line (SKA) – Patras and aims at: reducing the journey time to 60 minutes, from the 110 minutes it took before the construction of the project. modernising the network from Athens (SKA) to Kiato, with the ultimate aim of connecting with the rest of the railway network as far as Patras. In this way, an improved direct connection of Greece with the European Union via Italy will be secured (improvement of combined transport), as well as a shift of traffic load from road to rail transport, resulting in relief of the road network, reduced energy consumption and reduced environmental pollution. More specifically, the project includes: completion of the expropriations of the necessary land substructure works of the new railway line track superstructure works along the entire length of the new railway line, including the supply of track materials. works for the installation of a modern ETCS signalling system and telecommunications electrification installation works Reduction of the journey time to 60 minutes, from the 110 minutes it took before the construction of the project. modernising the network from Athens (SKA) to Kiato, with the ultimate aim of connecting with the rest of the railway network as far as Patras.
