Rododafni – Psathopyrgos: new double railway line

Description

Construction of the substructure of a new double railway line 21.5 km in length on the Rododafni – Psathopyrgos section. The project forms part of the wider programme for the modernisation of the Athens – Patras axis and extends the modernised network beyond Kiato. Twin Panagopoula tunnel with cut-and-cover entrances/exits and electromechanical installations, earthworks on the open line, structural works, hydraulic protection works, expropriations/requisitions, side road network, reinstatement of public utility networks and archaeological works. Reduction of the Athens – Patras journey time to 2 hours once the works as far as Patras are completed. Interoperability is secured through a uniform track gauge with the northern network.
