Renovation of the Thessaloniki Depot

Description

The project includes the necessary works for: renovation of the Thessaloniki Depot line and the construction of new track connections, so that it becomes a main running line. signalling and remote control in the wider area of Thessaloniki Railway Station between interlocking posts TX1 – TX5. electrification of the single railway line, approximately 4 km in length, Axios – Gefyra, and completion of the electrification in the area of the Thessaloniki Depot. replacement of two existing steel railway bridges with reinforced concrete bridges at Ch. 13+316 and Ch. 14+468 of the Thessaloniki – Plateos railway line in the area of Sindos. Technical characteristics: Railway bridges: 2 Substructure upgrading: 3.7 km Track superstructure upgrading: 5.1 km Installation of signalling & electrification system: 4 km. The project mainly concerns the completion and extension of the signalling equipment in the wider area of Thessaloniki, thus contributing to the improvement of safety conditions and to the optimisation of traffic management in the area.
