New EUR 25 million safety project for the upgrading of 100 level crossings on the railway network

The open electronic tender of Hellenic Railways for the supply, installation and commissioning of new SIL4 automatic level crossing systems has been published.

The open electronic tender of Hellenic Railways S.A. (OSE) has been published for the supply, installation and commissioning of 100 new SIL4 Automatic Level Crossing Systems (ALCS) at critical sections of the Greek railway network.

The project includes the dismantling of existing old systems, the supply and installation of new automatic level crossing systems, and the provision of full maintenance and fault-clearance services until expiry of the contract. It also provides for the integration, adaptation and interfacing of the new systems with the ETCS system, together with the necessary testing, certification and commissioning procedures.

The works concern the Thessaloniki – Idomeni, Thessaloniki – Alexandroupoli, Thessaloniki – Florina, Strymonas – Promachonas, Piraeus – Platy and Alexandroupoli – Ormenio lines.

The estimated value of the contract amounts to EUR 25 million excluding VAT, while its total duration is 42 months, comprising a supply and installation period and a period of preventive and corrective maintenance of the new systems.

Level crossings are critical points of contact between the railway and the daily life of citizens. By replacing old systems, installing modern SIL4 equipment, interfacing with ETCS and providing for full maintenance and fault clearance, we are taking a further targeted step towards a safer, more reliable and more modern railway."
