Sabotage at Davleia

Hellenic Railways informs the travelling public that yesterday morning, at 05:45, a technical problem occurred on the remotely controlled section from the exit of Thiva railway station to Davleia railway station. The fault resulted in a loss of communication, a loss of display and the inability to carry out operations at the intermediate stations. The crews of the contractor company were notified immediately in order to repair the technical problem, while at the same time the traffic staff proceeded with the actions required to regulate traffic. Through the coordinated efforts of all the crews involved, full restoration was achieved in less than 18 hours, while throughout the incident traffic was conducted in strict compliance with the rules of the General Traffic Regulation. A technical team went to the point where the fault was located for an on-site inspection. The inspection established that an act of sabotage had taken place, as the optical fibres had been cut with shears. This is evident from the photographic material handed over to the Hellenic Police in the context of the investigation of the incident. OSE will continue to take all the necessary measures for the safety and uninterrupted operation of the railway network.
